about the artist

Luz Tello: artist, painter and designer, is a Bay Area native raised by artist parents who met while painting a mural together in Berkeley.
Luz’s artistic talents were nurtured from childhood until the day she left for New York City to attend college at prestigious School of Visual Arts where she obtained a BFA in Computer Art.

Upon graduation Luz accepted a design position at an apparel company in New York City. It was there that she began applying her natural artistic talents into creating unique t -shirt and clothing designs. In her spare time she designed t-shirts for her friends, which gained a great deal of attention on the streets of New York.
Luz’s designs were unique because of the messages they conveyed: ethnically, culturally, politically and socially conscious images, statements and designs spoke loudly through her eye-catching graphics.

Being of a multi cultural background, Luz’s closest friends were also of mixed ethnic backgrounds and her designs reflected their various backgrounds and ethnicities, a fresh new take on modern multi cultural America.
After eight years of living in New York, Luz chose to start a family and moved back to her beloved Northern California homeland where she gave birth to her daughter Amaya in San Francisco.

Luz has now created her own brand in the Bay Area: Lala Lu, created by Luz and inspired by Amaya. She has applied her same signature designs onto baby t-shirts, which reflect the multi cultural and earth conscious residents of the Bay Area.
Luz is proud to call the Bay Area home, a place she considers to be the epicenter of cultural blending and multi cultural pride where people are free to BE.
